Transit Gateway Attachment

Transit Gateway attachments are the connections between your Transit Gateway and other network components. These attachments allow you to route traffic seamlessly between your VPCs, on-premises networks, and other resources.

Types of Transit Gateway Attachments

VPC Attachments:

  • Connect one or more VPCs to your Transit Gateway.
  • Require at least one subnet per Availability Zone to enable traffic routing.
  • Allow communication between VPCs, on-premises networks, and other resources attached to the Transit Gateway.

VPN Attachments:

  • Connect your on-premises networks to your Transit Gateway using VPN connections.
  • Enable secure, encrypted communication between on-premises and cloud resources.

Direct Connect Gateway Attachments:

  • Connect your on-premises networks to your Transit Gateway using AWS Direct Connect.
  • Provide a high-performance, private connection between your on-premises network and AWS.

Peering Attachments:

  • Connect two Transit Gateways together to create a peer-to-peer connection.
  • Enable traffic routing between resources connected to different Transit Gateways.

Connect Attachments:

  • Connect AWS Global Accelerator accelerators to your Transit Gateway.
  • Improve the performance and reliability of your global applications.
